It's all a matter of timing

I woke up this morning to find that once again it was raining and raining hard! this meant that the trip into Leicester was 'interesting' as there was a awful lot of water on the roads and of course when there's lots of water and heavy rain, no matter the day lunatic drivers who seem to take no notice of the weather conditions are sure to follow.

Despite my fears about trying to find a car parking space I managed to get to the stake centre just early enough to get once of the last spaces, which was as near to the rearer entrance as it could be, plus it was shaded by trees so I didn't get as wet as I could have done dashing into the building. One thing I did notice was that as a lot of leaves and gunk from the trees had fallen on the path, it was very slippery. I mentioned this to one of the ushers that it was slippery and someone might want to clear it otherwise someone might fall over. He simply nodded and said that they were aware of it and went back to watching the world go by outside of the doors.

The stake conference was interesting as it felt more like a general conference watching everything go on, on the giant screens. Now I saw giant screens , but we only have one at the front of the stake centre chapel. The other two screens consist of a image being projected on one side of the cultural hall and a small TV on the other.

Still the talks were very good and inspiring and I got to see what the inside of the Hyde Park chapel looked like for the first time.

Coming home was even more of a nightmare then going as the rain hadn't stopped and a lot of drains had given up the frankly uneven struggle they were facing meaning there was deep water in a lot of places. The rain started to get heavier as I got closer to Loughborough which meant the driving conditions got even worse. I'm just glad this was during daylight as it would have been a nightmare trying to do it, in the dark.

They've released some trailers for the new stargate series and the reaction from most sci-fi fans has been 'it looks very Battlestar galactica' which is unfortunate but to be expected I guess. the reimagined BSG set a huge mark for new sci-fi shows to live up to. Stargate universe probably has the best chance of reaching this level as to be perfectly honest thers not much in the way of scifi shows in the pipeline right now. I guess we'll see when it premiers in the autumn.

Virgin 1 have been having a special chuck weekend this well weekend to show the whole of the first series again ready for the start of season 2 on Tuesday. And their showing it at exactly the same time as CSI. ARGGHHHHHHH!!!!! Who schedules these things anyway?

Well it's Monday tomorrow which means another week of opportunities ahead which I'm sure will be as interesting as ever.

Later folks
